The others are considered nonessential amino acids because your body does make them as long as you consume enough essential amino acids and enough calories each day. There are essential nutrients, vitamins, and minerals that your developing baby needs. Most foods are safe; however, there are some foods that you should avoid during pregnancy. Similarly, you require more of all the essential nutrients than you did before you became pregnant.
This is because they cannot be produced by your own body, but instead need to be gotten through essential foods. But you will need more of the essential nutrients (especially calcium, iron, and folic acid) than you did before you became pregnant. Your health care provider will prescribe prenatal vitamins to be sure both you and your growing baby are getting enough. There are vitamins and nutrients that are essential to the well-being and development of your baby. The good news is that most foods are safe for you to eat; however, there are some foods that you should not eat while you are pregnant.
Antibiotics are also routinely given to pigs, chickens, beef cattle, dairy cows and even fish. Even though they are used to prevent illnesses and control diseases in the animals, the over-use of these antibiotics has contributed to antibiotic-resistance in humans. Iron stores can be increased by eating iron-enriched breakfast cereals, cooked beans, soybeans, lentils, chickpeas, clams, oysters, tofu, meat, poultry and fish, eggs, nuts, seeds and dried fruit. Eating iron-containing plant foods such as breads and cereals with iron-rich meats or vitamin C- rich foods or beverages – You can also get other sources of the nutrients found in fish. You may want to make up for Omega-3s by eating crushed flaxseed with your breakfast or snacking on walnuts.
