Question by Sara C: How early can you feel the “early signs of pregnancy“?
Ok os here’s the deal. My period is always sparatic anyways, usually at the end of the month, and I always have sore breasts beforehand, its one of my indicators that my monthly visitor is coming. But this month, I started having sore breasts and they actually feel kind of hard! And this started at the beginning of this month! Here it is the 28th and I haven’t had my period yet.

I also have had some cramping. Nothing unbearable, but every so often I get a cramp down there that hurts then goes away after a couple minutes.

Could these be signs of pregnancy or is it still too early to tell? Because it is still a little too early for me to take a pregnancy test. I figure I’ll give myself until the beginning of September to take one just to be sure that I’m not taking it too early… somebody please help!! An answer from an OBGYN or doctor would be nice….

Best answer:

Answer by P&Rsmommy
Look at it this way- if the symptoms you feel are the result of pregancy, you will probably have a positive pregnancy test. Pregnancy symptoms are usually the result of those hormones increasing, so there would be enough to trigger the test. If you’re past the point where you would have your period, take a test.

Do you know what the very early signs of pregnancy are? Your body is a complex machine – finely tuned and is giving off signals all the time. Pregnancy is a huge change to your body’s normal day-to-day functions and when you are with baby, your body will let you know!

Some moms-to-be will get one or two quiet signs at first, others’ bodies will scream “I’M PREGNANT” with all 10 signs at once. As hormone levels fluctuate and your body learns how to react to these changed levels, most women will experience practically all of the very early signs of pregnancy. You just need to know what the signs are.

Elevated Basal Body Temperature
A woman’s basal body temperature (the lowest body temperature attained during rest) begins to elevate after ovulation, and stays elevated past when you should have had your period. This increase in basal body temperature, usually one-half to one degree Fahrenheit, is a subtle very early warning sign of pregnancy. To get this clue, you should have some idea what your normal (non-pregnancy) basal temperature is.

Tenderness In The Breasts And Nipples
This is a classic early sign of early pregnancy – and one that often goes unnoticed. Many women attribute this tenderness to their bras or other clothing, and tend to ignore it. And, after the body gets used to the new hormone levels – the tenderness goes away. So, you must pay close attention to what your body is trying to say – because it may stop talking after a while.

Darker, More Prominent Areolas
As your breasts change and enlarge, your areolas (the darker area that surrounds the nipple) will swell and get bigger, too. This is a very early sign of pregnancy – normally occurring around the time you expect your period. Some believe that the darker coloring of the areola helps the newborn find the nipple for breastfeeding. After pregnancy, your nipples and areolas should return to normal colors and sizes.

Constipation
This is another very subtle clue – who doesn’t get constipated at one time or another – without being pregnant?

The changing hormone levels can play games with your bowels, interrupting the normal frequency and timing of your bowel movements. Many women who are expecting just write constipation off as an unrelated issue. Like basal body temperature, paying close attention really can make a difference.

Spotting
Light to moderate spotting (commonly called implantation spotting) normally happens a week to several days before your normal period is supposed to happen. Pink or brownish spotting is common a week or so after ovulation. Sometimes, spotting can simply be a sign of an early period. If this happens, look for other signs of pregnancy or take a pregnancy test.

Frequent Urination
Another classic very early sign of pregnancy, frequent urination should be a standout. This can be one of the earliest clues – happening a week to 12 days after a rise in basal body temperature, or about six weeks into your first trimester. While rising hormone levels are partly to blame, the most likely reason you feel like you have to pee every 5 minutes or so is the fact that the amount of blood in your body increases dramatically during pregnancy. This leads to a lot of extra fluids flowing through your kidneys – therefore a lot more pee!

Nausea And Vomiting
Commonly referred to as “morning sickness,” this early sign of pregnancy usually affects most women and begins around the sixth week of pregnancy. Again, hormone levels are thought to be the main cause. Surprisingly, many doctors feel that morning sickness is a good sign that all is well with your baby’s health and development. If your morning sickness is accompanied with vomiting, be sure to stay hydrated.

Menstrual Period Missed
While there are many reasons you may miss a menstrual period – stress, illness, excessive exercise, reactions to foods or medications – this can be a classic sign of pregnancy. If your period is very regular, and you have no other obvious reason to miss one, look for other early signs you may be pregnant.

Cramping
Moderate to severe cramping can be a sign of many conditions – including pregnancy.Implantation cramping happens to a growing and moving uterus getting prepared to sustain a new life. Sometimes cramping can be a sign of constipation or gas in the bowels. Other more serious causes include miscarriage= or ectopic pregnancy.

You shouldn’t have cramping after a positive pregnancy test – if you experience cramps with mild spotting, see your doctor to be sure all is well.

Unusual Fatigue And Tiredness
In our rush-rush modern world, it’s not unusual to be dead tired at the end of a busy day. Fatigue is different – a feeling of lethargy and exhaustion that seems to happen no matter your level of activity or time of day. The truth is, your body is working very hard to accommodate a new life. And, this work takes energy – energy that is taken from your daily activities.

If you notice some of these very early signs of pregnancy, test yourself with a good quality pregnancy test you can get at your local drug store. These home pregnancy tests have become quite accurate, normally being able to sense a pregnancy 10 to 14 days after contraception. If you get a negative, but still feel you may be pregnant – see your doctor to be sure.

If you or someone you love is struggling to get pregnant, then Read THIS Immediately - it could be the difference between failure and success – and a baby! !

TwoWeekWAIT.com (http://www.twoweekwait.com) aims to make it easier for women ‘trying to conceive’ to clue in on the early signs of pregnancy and get support during their “two week wait”, the 14 day period all women must wait before they can test positive on a home pregnancy test. This popular website showcases hundreds early pregnancy symptoms submitted by newly pregnant members. The growing database of early pregnancy symptoms is organized by ‘day past ovulation’ for more precise comparison to each woman’s own cycle.

“I set out to create a website community that shares hundreds of early pregnancy symptoms and conception stories,” said Elle Mendenhall, founder of TwoWeekWAIT.com. “After trying to conceive a baby for over a year, I wanted to give inspiration and hope to others in their fertility journey.”

In addition to posting early pregnancy symptoms, TwoWeekWAIT.com offers an active website community. Over 2,300 registered members interact with each other through the community forums that cover a wide range of fertility topics such as ovulation, early pregnancy signs, infertility, miscarriage, fertility treatments, and even pregnancy. The website even includes an integrated chat window for instant communication between members.

What sets TwoWeekWAIT.com apart from other fertility websites is the real life content and support it offers. “TwoWeekWAIT.com is one of the most comprehensive support sites currently on the web for women with questions about trying to conceive and those undergoing the agony of the ‘two week wait’ period,” said Cara Pert, a member from Scotland. “There are few who truly understand the highs and lows of this time. And who better to confide in than those going through the same experience?”

Indeed, only those TTC (trying to conceive) can fully appreciate the humor, as well as the poignant disappointments faced in their journey to parenthood. TwoWeekWAIT.com welcomes those to a haven where they will feel supported in every step of their journey while trying to conceive a baby.

First Month Signs and Symptoms of Pregnancy

During pregnancy, a woman’s body undergoes many changes, some more noticeable than others. It is important for women and couples to recognize the most common first signs and symptoms of pregnancy in order to be aware of the pregnancy as soon as possible. Carefully noting early pregnancy signs and symptoms along with at-home and physician-assisted pregnancy testing will help you to be prepared as early as possible for the changes you will be experiencing over the months to follow.
Early, First Month Signs and Symptoms of Pregnancy

Pregnancy symptoms differ from woman to woman, and not all women will experience all of the typical early signs of pregnancy. However, many of the symptoms are extremely common, and nearly all pregnant women will experience one or more of these first signs and symptoms of pregnancy. Note that while these are all common pregnancy signs, they can also be indicative of other changes in the body or even disease. If you think you are noticing pregnancy signs and symptoms, see a physician or specialist as soon as possible.

* Tender, swollen breasts are one of the early pregnancy symptoms. The discomfort you experience in your breasts may be similar to, but will usually be stronger than, that which you feel before your period. After the first trimester, the pain should diminish significantly, as your body adjusts to the new hormonal levels.
* Fatigue is another of the most common early signs of pregnancy. The stress of adjusting to the many physical changes you will experience along with the increased levels of progesterone your body will produce can lead to exhaustion, though this will most likely become less noticeable during the second trimester.
* Food cravings and aversions are extremely common during the early stages of pregnancy. Though food cravings are among the most well known early pregnancy symptoms, you may also experience aversions to foods that you previously enjoyed. This distaste may come and go throughout the pregnancy.
* A missed, late, or particularly light period is one of the more obvious early signs of pregnancy, especially if your period is usually regular. During the first month of your pregnancy, it is possible that you will have no symptoms other than this.
* Nausea or vomiting, commonly called “morning sickness,” can happen at any time of the day or night. Most women do not experience this symptom of pregnancy until about a month after conception, though some experience it very early.
* A heightened sense of smell can be one of the first month pregnancy symptoms. It is not uncommon for newly pregnant women to find normally acceptable or even pleasant smells repulsive and overpowering early in the pregnancy. Certain aromas may even trigger your gag reflex.
* Frequent urination is another of the most common early pregnancy symptoms. During pregnancy, the amount of blood and other fluid in your body rapidly increases, and your kidneys must process more than usual. As a result, more liquid ends up in your bladder. This will most likely persist during the pregnancy, as your growing baby exerts increasing pressure on your bladder.

Common Pregnancy Symptoms

As the pregnancy progresses from the first to the second trimester, your pregnancy signs and symptoms will become much more apparent. The most obvious to observers will be the weight gain as your baby grows. Your breasts will continue to grow and may begin to secrete a small amount of thin fluid called colostrum. Along with this, your hands, face, ankles, and feet may begin to swell. A dark line between your navel and pubic area is another of the common signs of pregnancy. Most excitingly, you will begin to be able to feel the fetus move inside of you.

As you progress into your third trimester, your pregnancy signs will begin to reflect your new temporary shape. You will be able to see the fetus move from the outside. Your navel will push out, you will likely experience backaches, and you will begin to walk differently to accommodate the added weight. You will have shortness of breath and experience painless “practice” contractions. You’ll know that the moment you’ve been waiting for is not too far off.

Irving, TX (PRWEB) April 24, 2007

For six million women a year the symptoms of pregnancy are followed by a positive pregnancy test, but for at least another six million women annually, symptoms are not what they seem.

That’s largely because the first tell-tale signs of pregnancy can be caused by many other factors like tension or stress, changing or stopping hormonal contraceptive use, breastfeeding, excessive weight gain or loss, or fatigue.

The American Pregnancy Association hears from thousands of these women who need clarification on the pregnancy symptoms that they are experiencing. Some of these questions are from women who are trying to conceive, whereas others are hoping their symptoms may be related to something else.

“More than a fifth of the inquiries we receive are questions related to the possibility of being pregnant,” explains Dr. Brad Imler, American Pregnancy Association President. “We consistently hear from women who want to know what different symptoms mean and how to tell if they’re pregnant or perhaps just pre-menstrual.”

Several symptoms of pregnancy, such as breast tenderness, headaches, or nausea, can also precede a woman’s menstruation. If women aren’t trying to become pregnant, they may disregard these symptoms as nothing more than a usual part of her menstrual cycle. Every symptoms of pregnancy has the possibility of being explained away by something else.

The alternative possibilities for the symptoms and the fact that more than fifty percent of women turn out not to be pregnant easily explains the number of questions women have about the possibility of pregnancy. For women trying to decipher between a potential pregnancy and a menstrual cycle or some other explanation, the American Pregnancy Association provides a wealth of knowledge at no cost to its clients.

The free education support helpline answers questions about pregnancy at (800) 672-2296. Women can also learn more about pregnancy by visiting the American Pregnancy Association Web site.
