Why Yoga is SO Good for your Pregnancy

The word ‘labor’ itself conveys an impression of unpleasantness. It’s a result of her experience and environment during years before her pregnancy, during her antedated period and even during her labor. Tadasana therefore implies a pose where one stands firm and erect as a mountain. Tadasana is often described as a standing meditation posture. Unfortunately, these Yoga teachers are often trained to teach Yoga as an exercise program by learning a dozen or two dozen asanas, and not much beyond this. The fact is, Yoga is much more than an exercise program.
Shavasana, the relaxation pose in which you lie on your mat, can be done lying on your side instead of your back. In the third trimester, modify the yoga poses as your weight distribution changes. Asanas: In the next couple of months, you can do what feels right to you. But, never push too hard. Yoga is extensively known as a form of exercise that stretches and strengthens the body through various yoga poses known as ASANAS. For other people yoga is the realization of inner self satisfaction.
Generally though, yoga uses a combination of physical postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama) and meditation to purify the mind, body and spirit. The word ‘yoga’ itself means ‘union’, a definition which fits well with its ability to treat ailments of both mind and body. Usha Devi has devised an easy sequence of gentle asanas (physical postures), breathing techniques and a guided relaxation and visualization technique called Yoga Nidra. Yoga Nidra has a deeply profound effect on the pregnant mother and developing fetus.
As each asana (posture) is performed, be sure to breathe fully. Inhale through your nose, bringing the breath to the lower regions of the lungs. Keep the back leg and back foot active and firm in the virabhadrasana position. Start the sequence with feet hip-width apart in samasthiti in Month 6 or whenever more space is required. It consists of different poses, called asanas, that should be held steady, while controlling the breathing. The breathing techniques, which are central to yoga, are called pranayamas.
What about deep twists of marichyasana where you are stretching around the sacrum and lumbar spine? How much of the primary series can I practice, and how? These Type A strivers want to become Type B seekers, to lose their blues in an asana (pose), to graduate from distress to de-stress. Fifteen million Americans include some form of yoga in their fitness regimen — twice as many as did five years ago; 75% of all U.S.
Pattabhi Jois, the modern day father of Ashtanga Yoga says, 99% practise, 1% theory. Likewise with this devotional approach, Bhakti is only experienced when the practitioner is absorbed in the practice. Arlene Bjork has practiced and taught ashtanga vinyasa yoga since 1997. She was inspired to begin her avid practice after she realized during her first yoga class that her back pain from scoliosis had completely disappeared.
Yoga also helps to practice good breathing and calming techniques. At the same time, it puts you in touch with your body. When we practice yoga, the body has a chance to release stress created by worried thoughts. Gradually, this has the effect of training us to notice disturbed thoughts as they arise so that we can choose not to participate in them. Yoga is a group of ancient practices which were first developed in India. It is still popular in the country today, and is considered to be a spiritual exercise.
